    Framework for Teaching (FFT) Clusters

Improving classroom instruction in order to impact student learning is the central focus of The Freeport School District Curriculum and Instruction Department. During the 2021-2022 school year, FSD145 adopted the Framework for Teaching (FFT) Clusters as a way to have one definition of quality instruction that is commonly understood and implemented across the district.

The FFT Clusters identify teaching behaviors that encompass effective instructional practice. The Framework may be used for many purposes, but its most significant value and impact is that it serves as the basis for professional conversations among educators as they seek to enhance skills in the complex task of teaching. The Framework may be used to focus a school's goals, mentoring, professional development, and lesson planning, thus linking all those activities together and helping teachers become more reflective practitioners. The District provides professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators in using the Framework to develop a clear and consistent understanding of instructional expectations, which will result in an equitable and consistent approach to instruction.
