    Work Information

    Along with the Custodial and Maintenance staff oversees all facets of the Buildings and Grounds department for the district.  

    Key Responsibilities
    • Keeping all district buildings in good physical condition by scheduled preventative maintenance care
    • Keeping all students and staff safe by forming partnerships with the ROE and all local emergency services
    • Continuing education by actively participating and completing FEMA training
    • Weekly reviews during “flu” season with Stephenson County Health Department, adjusting disinfecting methods as needed to make sure all students and staff attend as many days of school as possible

    Biographical Information

    Greg Munda is lifelong resident of Freeport. A veteran of the United States Air Force and served many years as a fire fighter and an EMT.  Greg is married to Julie and they have two married daughters and 7 very active grandchildren.

    Greg has been very active over the past decade donating his time to numerous service groups and serving on various Boards of Directors.  Greg served on the Board of Directors for the Red Cross for many years.   Greg has volunteered at the Red Cross on the Disaster Assistance Team (DAT) for over 10 years. The DAT team members carry a pager and respond to disasters and single family house fires 24 hours a day. Greg has volunteered thousands of hours of his personal time to serve on the DAT Team. The local Red Cross is responsible for disasters within Jo Daviess, Stephenson and Carroll counties in Illinois.

    Greg also serves dual roles at Malcolm Eaton as the Buildings and Grounds Chairman and as a member of the Board of Directors for over 9 years.  

    He currently the Chairman of the Stephenson County LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Commission), and is an active member of the Stephenson County Unified Command committee. 
    Greg is also the Assistant Emergency coordinator for Stephenson County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES). The ARES group provides emergency communications during those times when normal modes of communications are unavailable.
    As terms were for filled or maximum years of service was reached Greg has elected to take some time off from helping the community to care for his wife and enjoy his family and grandchildren.
    In the past year Greg has been requested to assist RETA Security in presentation to various school district/school board meeting in Illinois.
