Welcome to the Freeport School District Transportation Department!
At Freeport School District, student safety and reliable transportation are our top priorities. Our Transportation Department is committed to providing safe, timely, and efficient bus service to all eligible students. We work closely with families, schools, and staff to ensure every child’s ride to and from school is a secure and positive experience. Whether you're looking for route information, safety guidelines, or general transportation updates, we’re here to help. Thank you for trusting us with your child’s journey.
Transportation Services Overview
The Freeport School District Transportation Department proudly provides safe and reliable transportation for students who meet the following criteria:
-
Reside more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school
-
Live in a designated hazard area
-
Have special needs as identified in an IEP
-
Attend a district preschool program
To request transportation or make changes, a Transportation Request Form must be submitted. Forms are available on this website or by contacting the Enrollment and Transportation Office. Please note that we do not accept transportation changes over the phone.
Each summer, during student registration, families have the option to request transportation services.
If your student attends an in-home daycare, transportation is only available within the boundaries of your assigned school. If the daycare is outside your boundary area, you may submit a transfer request to enroll your child in the boundary school that serves the daycare location.
Transportation is available from all district boundaries to the following child care centers:
-
YMCA Children’s Center
-
Amity
-
Open Bible Learning Center
Transfer forms are available online or by contacting the Enrollment and Transportation Office directly. We're here to help ensure a smooth and safe ride to school every day!
Bus Pass Information
All students in 8th grade and below will be issued a bus pass at the start of the school year. These passes help us ensure student safety by tracking when and where your child boards and exits the bus each day.
If a bus pass is lost or damaged, please contact our office promptly to request a replacement. We're happy to help keep your student riding safely and smoothly!
