At its regular meeting on March 1, 2022, the Freeport School District Board of Education:
Heard Superintendent Alvarado recognized the following FHS teams for their participation and achievements in sectional, state, and national level competitions:
- Girls Bowling
- Boys Swimming
- Boys & Girls Wrestling - IHSA & IESA
- Chess - IESA
- Speech
Received announcement of FSD’s, “Those Who Excel Winners” for 2022
These individuals were nominated by their peers because of their commitment, dedication and passion for education and their determination to see our students succeed. This is an amazing accomplishment and a tribute to all that they do.

Acknowledgment of Jones-Farrar & Carl Sandburg Schools as high attendance award winners for the Month of February.
Received the following Reports:
- Project Plan for Report Card Revision 2022: C&I department shared a plan to review and refine our system for reporting student progress that aligns with a refinement of instructional practices.
- MTSS update winter and ECRA data update At grade-level winter data meetings, MTSS team members and classroom teachers reviewed winter benchmarking data, as well as other assessment data, to create actionable improvements to core instruction and intervention plans for individual students. Reports were provided to the Board as an update on the MTSS implementation:
- Illinois Supreme Court Denies Governor’s Appeal on Masking in schools.The Illinois Supreme Court has denied an appeal from Gov. JB Pritzker in the legal fight over Covid restrictions in schools. It lifts the mask requirement in most indoor settings and also lifts the mask requirement in K-12 schools and daycare.In response, Pritzker lifted the state’s school mask requirements on Monday.
