- Board Meeting Highlights 2022-2023
January 18, 2022 Board Meeting Highlights
At its regular meeting on January 18, 2022, the Freeport School District Board of Education:
Voted to approve the CollegeNOW Agreement FY2023; the Mentoring Handbook (staff); and PRESS Issue 108;
Heard an update on enrollment and attendance. Supt. Alvrado shared that there has been a 15% drop in student attendance from 85% to 69%. This is mostly due to COVID related absences. On average, the district is experiencing 57 staff absences per day. We currently have 3 buildings on adaptive pause due to high COIVD rates. Jones-Farrar, Blackhawk, and Center are scheduled to return to their buildings on Monday, January 24.
December High Attendance awards were announced for Jones-Farrar at the elementary level and Carl Sandburg for the upper level schools.
The Freeport Community Public School Foundation was recognized for providing over $91K for items on the "Staff Wish List". This is an amazing donation and FSD appreciates the generosity of FCPSF and its donors.
FSD continues to adhere to the COVID protocols and guidelines set forth for schools by the IDPH and ISBE. Testing supply shortages continue to be a barrier. However, FSD has been approved for 1600 additional self-collected saliva test kits. FHN has recently been approved for free shield testing.
The public is always invited and encouraged to attend Freeport School District Board of Education meetings. The next scheduled regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 6:00 PM. All meetings are held virtually and information on joining the meetings can be found here.
