FSD Begins Registration for Summer University 2019

This year, Freeport School District will once again offer an enrichment model of summer learning that is open to all district students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

From now until April 30th, parents have the opportunity to register their students for Summer University 2019. Summer University is an exciting and unique opportunity for FSD students in Grades K-8 to get a “boost” in math and reading, and/or engage in a fun and interesting enrichment class of their choice. Sessions will be held June 10th to July 11th.

Summer University is an enrichment program developed to provide students with a variety of hands-on opportunities that focus on leadership & team-building while acquiring 21st Century skills of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. Below are just a few of the courses being offered. You can view the Course Catalog for a full listing of courses at your child’s school building or on the district website.

Grades K-2: Kids in the Kitchen, Under the Sea, Rainforest Explorers, Exploring 3-D Media, Full STEAM Ahead, Fun with Fitness, Mindful Meditation

Grades 3-5: LEGO Robotics, How Math Works, Full STEAM Ahead, Performing Arts Curriculum, Rockin' Rainforest, Makerspace, Exploring 3-D Media

Grades 6-8: Mission Possible, Fun with Digital Photography, CSI: Forensic Science, Performing Arts Curriculum, LEGO Robotics, AVID Math, Summer Symphony / Music History

For instructions on how to register a student, parents can go online to and click on the Summer University 2019 link. Those without access to online registration may visit their child’s school to register.
