Biographical Information

Mr. Pemberton began as the Freeport High School athletic director on July 1, 2023. His prior experience includes over 15 years in the areas of teaching, coaching, and athletic director positions. Mr. Pemberton holds a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Rockford College and a minor in secondary education. He completed his CAA certification in December 2021, and is working towards completing his CMAA certification. He is a strong believer that anyone can achieve their goals with the right attitude and work ethic. Go Pretzels!
 
Work Information
  • Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the district athletic programs. 

 

Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare budgets for athletic programs and allocate athletic funds.
    • Provide leadership and guidance for sports programs.
    • Supervise purchase and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with state association rules and conference policies.
    • Coordinate with coaches on team travel, game scheduling and practice sessions.
    • Coordinate all aspects of hosting athletic events. 
    • Serves as a liaison between the athletic booster groups, coaches and administration.
    • Prepare and present reports on team performance and needs for improvement.
    • Works with the staff and administration to develop and enforce an extracurricular activity policy which is consistent with the goals of the school and the district.
    • Mediate any disputes arising between coaches and athletes and parents.
