Carl Sandburg School Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

For the 4th Quarter, we decided to focus the goal on tardies to school

For students who were tardy to school 4 or more times in the 3rd Quarter, each student will reduce their individual rate of tardiness to school by 30% or one-third in the 4th quarter, when compared to the 3rd Quarter.

For students who were not tardy to school or had 3 or less tardies in the 3rd Quarter, each student will receive 1 or NO tardies to school in the 4th Quarter.

TEacher of the week

We are a student centered environment with high expectations for learning and behavior of students and staff, where success is continually celebrated and communication is the key.

Carl Sandburg Middle School proudly recognizes Staples for their generosity in supporting and enhancing our educational program. With the help of Staples Associate, Joshua Showers, Staples Foundation provided $1,000 to help our school continue the work with our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) program and also our Legacy Girls Mentoring Program. The funds will help to replenish our incentives, so students are being rewarded for doing well academically and behaviorally. We thank our local partner, Staples for their belief in our children and Freeport School District 145.

Carl Sandburg Middle School has been selected to participate in a national study known as "The Journeys Project," sponsored by the Center on School Turnaround at WestEd.

New Immunization Requirement for ALL 6th-12th grade students

To combat the rise of pertussis (whooping cough), for the 2013-2014 school year, the state of Illinois is expanding its prevention efforts and requiring ALL sixth-through-twelfth grade students to receive a Tdap booster vaccination.  Students must either show proof of having received the vaccination, must have an appointment to get the vaccine,or have an approved medical or religious exemption on file.
