Center Elementary
  • Center Elementary School serves grade levels PreK through 4th grade. With an approximate enrollment of 315 students, the average class size at Center is 20 students.

Center Elementary School has a diverse student population. The school houses the district's High Academic Potential Program (HAPP) for students with high academic potential. The program is more academically rigorous than the regular education classrooms. HAPP is self-contained and addresses all subjects in grades first through fourth. Students continue in HAPP at the middle level schools.

There are 50 dedicated staff members that provide educational opportunities to students at Center School.  Students are assigned a classroom teacher, but also spend time with the art, music, and physical education teacher during the week. Students visit the library each week as well. Extra interventionists such as tutors, reading specialists, and best practice coaches help students with academic and behavior challenges, when necessary. Special education teachers, speech pathologists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists are at school to help with interventions and services as well.

21st Century teaching/learning practices are being used at Center school to ensure students are most engaged in their learning. While teaching to the Common Core Standards, our teachers incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to reach each student's learning potential. In this educational setting, instruction is conducted in guided reading groups, leveled math groups, individually and whole class. New curriculums are being implemented for students in K-4 through Bridges Math and Schoolwide Reading, Writing and Grammar. The Second Step Curriculum and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are implemented to promote positive academic and social emotional outcomes for all students.
