• We continue to align and review our curriculum. In recent years, starting in 2016, new curriculum has been put in place in nearly every subject area and grade level. MAP assessments are also providing increased data on individual student learning.
• Our accomplished district music program has been recognized for the past 19 consecutive years by the Grammy Foundation, which means it ranks in the top 100 programs of all those that they considered.
• Our award-winning Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program has received national recognition for its quality and has earned awards in marksmanship and drill team, as well as thousands of dollars in scholarships.
• Our speech program competes annually at the state level.
• Our staff members have been recognized at the State level in a variety of programs, including the Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel awards.
• Our blended preschool program has been recognized by the state as an exemplary program and continues to expand, as do our transition and English Language Learning programs.
• Our robotics team is competitive at the regional level.
• Our CareerTEC program continues to grow by partnering with other area school districts and by offering additional programs to students.

• Our Summer University enrichment program provides unique summer learning opportunities for K-8 students.
• The AVID program has expanded from FSD high and middle schools to 4th grade at 5 of our elementary schools in recent years.
• The district has increased social-emotional support in all schools and continues to implement the Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports system district-wide.
• The district is a participant in the Community Eligibility Provision, a 4-year alternative program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This program enables our schools to provide one reimbursable breakfast and one reimbursable lunch each day for ALL students enrolled in the Freeport School District at no charge.
• Our Technology Department continues to increase technology infrastructure in the classrooms.
• Safety comes first. All school buses are equipped with the latest technology, including cameras and GPS. We are also moving toward 3-pt seatbelts on all buses.
• FHS continues to foster career partnerships with local businesses, as well as College Now & dual-credit opportunities with Highland Community College. A redesigned high school course guide also provides more career-based course offerings to students.
• Illinois State Scholars from Freeport High School are named annually.
• About 200 students in 1st through 6th grade are enrolled annually in our High Academic Potential Program (HAPP).
