Superintendent 2025-2026 Opening Letter

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

August 21, 2025

Welcome to School Year 2025-2026. Each school year presents a new opportunity for our District to better serve our students and families. Our theme  for the 2025-2026 school year, "We Belong Here", reflects our commitment to fostering a school community where every student feels seen, valued, and included.

This theme reminds us that a true sense of belonging is essential for learning and growth. It calls on all of us to work together in building spaces where every student knows they matter and that they have a place. "We Belong Here" also invites us to celebrate the unique strengths, voices, and accomplishments of our students. It encourages collaboration, connection, and mutual respect as we continue to nurture a culture where each student is empowered to succeed and reach their fullest potential.

Together, through shared purpose and compassion, we will make this year one where every student not only learns, but truly belongs.

Additionally, the Early Childhood Expansion Project, which restructured grade levels and staffing across the PreK–8 buildings, opens the door to new opportunities for collaboration, culture building, and fostering a sense of belonging.

Our District mission calls us to commit to creating an innovative, inclusive and student-centered learning environment for our students. We will continue to strive to provide our students the opportunity to build their agency and identity through fair and equitable policies.

Last, strong partnerships between home and school remain a critical aspect of educating our students. We are grateful to the community for its steadfast support of FSD. Like student success, this support can be measured through quantitative indicators. But, more importantly, we will foster a shared belief and commitment to providing diverse opportunities for our students to feel empowered and engaged so they can achieve and serve.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anna Alvarado,

Superintendent of Schools
