    Freeport Middle School

Renee Coleman began her career as an accountant for CNA Insurance in Chicago, Illinois. After her department relocated to Harford Connecticut, she left CNA with 11 years of experience as a senior financial analyst. As a result of a major event, Renee returned back to school to obtain her master degree in Elementary Education so she could fulfil her first love which is working with scholars and preparing them for a global market.

In 2005, Renee became an educator in Chicago Public Schools as a gifted middle school self-contained teacher. While at CPS, she coached academic teams, co-coached cheerleading/ pom pom squads, created a successful female mentoring program and assisted with implementation of research based curriculum. As a consequence of high academic performance during my teaching career at CPS, Renee was recruited to become an Instructional Facilitator for grades 3-8 at Legacy Academy of Excellence in Rockford, Illinois.

In 2015, she started her career at Freeport School District as a 3rd grade teacher in Taylor Park. Within two years, Renee went from the assistant principal to now the principal of Freeport Middle School.

Renee obtained her bachelor degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from Fisk University, and both master degrees in Elementary Education and Administration from University of Phoenix. Also, Renee is endorsed in middle level Math and Language Arts.

Renee enjoys being a wife and mother to 3 college bound kids. She loves traveling, reading and working on her second love – event planning.
