The Philosophy of Freeport School District 145

The goal of ELA instruction in FSD 145 is to build consistency across grade levels through standards-based, rigorous, and culturally responsive instructional methods based on the Framework for Teaching Clusters. Through a balance of whole and small group instruction, teachers build the foundations of literacy so students are able to consume literature, informational text, and content area materials as well as produce narrative, informational and argumentative pieces.
