Biographical Information

Ms. Kayleigh King is a Freeport High School graduate, class of 2008.  She attended college in Platteville, Wisconsin and eventually began her career in Dodgeville, Wisconsin as an elementary teacher in 2012.  In 2018, seeking for new leadership opportunities, Ms. King accepted a job in the Freeport School District.  She spent two years as FSD145’s Multi-Tiered System of Support Coordinator.  In 2020, she accepted the Assistant Principal position at Freeport Middle School. 

Kayleigh graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with an Elementary Education degree and a minor in Early Childhood and Special Education.  Kayleigh went on to complete her Master’s of Administration degree from Platteville in 2018. 
Kayleigh enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family.


Work Information

Ms. King is responsible for providing instructional leadership and supervision of Freeport Middle School, while assisting the principal.  This includes managing and promoting the educational development of each student and ensuring that all policies and procedures set forth by the Freeport Board of Education and the Illinois State Board of Education are followed accordingly.



Key Responsibilities

Instructional Program

  • Assist in the curriculum development process;
    • Serve on curriculum committees
    • Assist in the formulation of new programs
    • Assist in the implementation and evaluation of curriculum programs

Student Services

  • Conduct the orientation program for new students;
  • Supervise the registration of new students;
  • Compile the Middle School Curriculum Guide;
  • Assist in the leadership, coordination and supervision of extra-curricular programs;
  • Supervise extra-curricular events as assigned;
  • Assist teachers with student conduct problems;
  • Arrange for parent conferences as needed;
  • Participate in conferences with parents and teachers as needed;
  • Assist the Dean of Students with the direct administration of the Discipline Policy as needed;
  • Work with the counselor and/or dean on particular student problems;
  • Utilize the services of community and special agencies for the benefit of students and the school;
  • Generally supervise the students throughout the day
