Freeport High School is celebrating the 100th
anniversary of the first boys’ basketball state championship. Recognition for
this event is scheduled to take place at the home boys’ basketball game on
Saturday, February 7. We are interested in contacting any living relative of
the players or coaches on the 1915 state championship team in order to have them
attend this special event. Members included: Coach Dan Dougherty, Chester
Langenstein, Glenn Holmes, Torrey Fox, Oscar Hill, Leo Koehler, Russell,
Mulnix, Paul Gilbert, Herbert Bierach and manager Julius Guhl.
If you have
information on these individuals please contact and inform the high school
athletic director, Jeff Fitzpatrick (815-232-0450).
FREEPORT NOON ROTARY
Area students age 15-19 have an amazing opportunity to participate in
the Freeport Noon Rotary Summer 2015 Youth Exchange Program. Students
will be paired with another student in another country and spend four weeks in
each other's homes, sharing in the other's culture and family life, hosted by
the local Rotary Club. Interested students and their parents should
attend an informational meeting on November 18 or December 2 from 6:30pm-7:30pm
at the Freeport High School library or see Mr. Pierce at the high school. APPLICATION
